ROGER DAGORN HONORED BY KRUG CHAMPAGNE FOR HIS LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENTS

Krug Fetes Master Sommelier Roger Dagorn with a Dinner at Marc Forgione to Celebrate Lifetime Achievement in Wine Service

New York, NY – MediaQuire - October 2, 2010 – Krug Champagne, the world’s first luxury Champagne House, is proud to honor Master Sommelier and industry veteran, Roger Dagorn, for his Lifetime Achievements in Wine Service.  To celebrate Mr. Dagorn's accomplishments, Krug has partnered with New York world-renowned chef Marc Forgione to create an extraordinary special pairing menu befitting Roger’s incredible legacy.

As the current Wine Director of Porter House New York, Roger Dagorn is one of only 180 Master Sommeliers worldwide.  Roger’s career had far humbler beginnings - in 1966 he began working part-time at Le Pont Neuf, a French bistro his father and cousin founded on East 53rd Street, serving as dishwasher, pantry man, busboy, waiter, bartender, cook, and cellar boy before officially beginning his journey into the wine world in 1972. 

Prior to his current position at Porter House New York, Roger worked 16 years at famed Chanterelle Restaurant, in addition to serving as Master Sommelier at Tse Yang, a restaurant noted for haute Mandarin cuisine with an acclaimed wine list; Restaurant Director at l'Ecole (the restaurant of the French Culinary Institute), and the Sommelier at Le Parker Meridien in New York.  With nearly forty years of experience, Roger is one of the industry’s most respected talents and it was his spirit, passion, and expertise that inspired Krug to pay tribute in his honor.

Hosted by Maggie Henriquez, the intimate celebratory dinner at Marc Forgione’s eponymous restaurant is a fitting tribute to Roger’s incredible career.  The five course meal was specially-curated by the acclaimed chef, with each culinary offering paired with a different wine from Krug’s collection of prestige Champagnes– Krug Grande Cuvee, Krug Rose, and Krug Vintages 1998 and 2000 - and punctuated by anecdotes from some of Roger’s close friends and colleagues.
